This year's Capital Levy seeks to maintain funding for our schools and avoid a $4+ million dollar cut. These cuts could include staff reductions, larger class sizes, reduced student programming, and fewer transportation services.

This levy is about avoiding budget cuts due to rising costs and underfunding. Passing this levy will help us avoid more than $4 million in cuts that could affect classroom sizes, teacher retention, and student programs.
The levy tax increase to residents is based on home value. It is estimated to cost roughly $14/month for residents that live in a house valued at $400,000.
There will be a constitutional amendment on this ballot that seeks to increase funding for all Minnesota schools without raising taxes. It's important permanent funding that would provide about $200,000 to District 197 Schools or around $39/student. However, it is not enough to close the gap that the levy will, which would provide about $900/student.
